Painting: View from the Scaligero Castle by Teresa Dominici, Year: 2010, Medium: Acrylic, 20"X16" (50cmX40cm).
Malcesine's most striking feature as you approach over Lake Garda is its historic castle, the Castello Scaligero, which is also the town's main tourist attraction.
The second most important building in Malcesine is the fifteenth-century Palazzo dei Capitani, close to the harbour. This was the headquarters of the Venetian rulers of the area, the Capitani del Lago.

Guarded since the 14th Century by the stone towers of a Scaligeri Castle, this enchanting town combines its ancient charms with a wealth of wonderfully scenic walking possibilities amidst olive groves and lush pine woods. Gathered round the quaint harbour are traditional pastel coloured houses and waterside cafés, which look out over the gently rocking boats and across to the resorts of Gardone and Limone.
The cable car from the village takes you to the summit of Lake Garda's highest mountain, Monte Baldo, from where the stunning views will take your breath away.
